Chili with Beef and Beans

Appliances/Tools Needed

  • Stovetop

  • Medium size pot

  • Spatula 

  • Cooking spoon

  • Can opener

  • Cutting board

  • Knife

  • Serving dish and utensil


Ingredients

  • Ground beef

  • Cooking spray or olive oil

  • Half onion

  • Minced garlic

  • Canned red kidney beans

  • Canned dark red kidney beans

  • Can of tomato sauce

  • Can of diced tomatoes

  • Chili seasoning 

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Beef broth 

  • Shredded cheese (optional)

  • Sour cream (optional)

  • Crackers (optional

  • Cornstarch (optional)


Directions

  1. Start by chopping the half of an onion into small pieces, then set aside

  2. Heat up your medium sized pot on medium high temperature with cooking spray or oil.

  3. Once heated, add in your diced onions.

  4. When the onions are almost cooked through, add in your minced garlic and stir. 

  5. Once the garlic becomes fragrant, add in your ground beef and begin to start breaking up with meat.

  6. Allow the meat to cook through. 

  7. Once cooked, add in your canned beans, canned tomato sauce, canned diced tomatoes, and the chili seasoning

  8. Give a good mix then add in the beef broth

  9. Turn the heat down to low and cover the pot to allow it to cook for at least 10 minutes. 

  10. After 10 minutes, give the chili a good sister and season with salt and pepper to taste. (Optional: add a cornstarch and water mixture to make the soup thicker.)

  11. Spoon into the serving dish and top with any preferred extras
